About
National University (NU) is proud to be one of the largest private nonprofit universities in the United States, founded in 1971 by retired U.S. Navy Capt. David Chigos. Our mission is to provide accessible, achievable higher education to adult learners. Today, we educate students from across the U.S. and around the globe, with over 180,000 alumni worldwide. NU is a regionally accredited university and offers over 150+ online programs utilizing 4- and 8- week online courses designed to help students reach their goals while balancing busy lives. NU is designed to fit busy schedules. Whether pursuing an associate, bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree—or enhancing your resume with a certificate or credential program—NU is committed to supporting your academic and career aspirations. Through its holistic Whole Human Education approach, NU empowers students both academically and personally, helping them achieve their goals.
As a veteran-founded nonprofit, National University is proud to serve those who serve by offering military tuition discounts and scholarships for veterans and dependents. In addition to online programs, military students have access to classes on military bases nationwide and to our Veteran Center designed to ease the transition from military to civilian life. As a Yellow Ribbon school, we accept the post 9/11 GI Bill®, so veteran and active-duty students pay virtually no out-of-pocket costs for their education.
