About
Founded by Richard Rosen in 1994, Magik Theatre has served the youth of San Antonio and South Texas with the mission of introducing young minds to the magic of the performing arts, nurturing their imagination, promoting literacy, and fostering a lifelong appreciation for theatre. One of two Theatre for Young Audiences in Texas, Magik has produced more than 250 Main Stage and touring shows, played to more than 2.5 million people, bringing nationally recognized children’s literature to life.
Last season, Magik Theatre offered 106 student matinees with a total audience of 28,730 elementary and middle students on field trips. Magik Theatre also offered 89 performances for a general public audience of over 10,500. Magik also runs a nationally recognized residency for at-risk youth in the Bexar County justice system and a residency for children at Haven for Hope, a homeless shelter.
Magik Theatre is a KultureCity Certified Sensory Inclusive Venue, offering, among other things, sensory bags for patrons with sensitivity challenges. Magik also has a social story online for patrons who appreciate the ability to visualize their visit to Magik before they arrive. (https://venue.kulturecity.org/venues/magik-theatre)
